I am looking for advice about the following: Player overconfidence during warm up.

I am still very early in the season and was wondering what more experienced players (you guys) do to try and nip this in the bud? as there seems no way to communicate to the player that I demand more focus.
WE have only played smaller teams really and I don't want over confidence going into BIG games.
Is it anything to do with the players personality or just the results we have had to date?

On a side note,
I have a player who is ticked as playmaker and has the PPM 'dictates tempo' (which overides my default tempo setting)
and I substitute and replace him with a player who does not have PPM 'dictates tempo' but still plays the playmaker role.
Does any player elsewhere on the field who does have that PPM override the tempo set on my team mentality screen? or is that just the preserve of the player ticked as playmaker?
