Game does not launch (help for a friend)??

He downloaded it and it won't launch AT ALL...the following appears :

Application Error. A serious error was encountered and the application will close. An error file has been generated in C:\Users\"his name"\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2014\crash dumps\FM 2014 v14.3.1.487696(2014.05.03 18.59.57).dmp

I thought it was something to do with direct x.

He got the game Friday and has not gotten on it at all

Any idea? I am out of ideas for him
