This tactic got me the WC title in my very first try with FM2014. I designed this tactic in order to make Portugal more deadly in the final third without losing sight of their defense. I know the scores are not impressive but the feeling of cohesion is so obvious that I felt that I was never going to lose throughout. If anything, I always in the lead in every game and I blame myself in a few games but trying out things. The friendly games don't really matter since the team was still adapting to the tactic. Have in mind that I defeated England with the Familiarity bar hardly in the middle.

If you find similarities in the type of players you have in your team, then please try it out and let me know how it went. Any feedback is appreciated as I'll try and see how far I can go in the Euro Championship as well as possibly trying it out with club teams.

Here is how I have done it:

----------------------------------------------------------//
When you're favourite or even.

Instructions

Retain Possession
Exploit the Flanks
Pass into Space

Mentality

Attacking

When you want to hold the score or underdog (or playing against a team like Greece).

Instructions

Retain Possession
Exploit the Flanks
Lower Tempo (or Much Lower Tempo if you're in the final end of the game and want to kill time)
Work Ball into Box

Mentality

Control (or Defensive at the later stages of the game)

When you desperately need to score.

Instructions

Exploit the Flanks
Hassle Opponents
Push Higher Up

Mentality

Overload

Against teams with fast offensive players

Drop Deeper(the only relatively fast portuguese CB is Pepe, so have that in mind)

Fluidity

Always "Rigid".

Optional

- Make the AP a AM with Support on it if you think that the midfield is being crowded.
- Grab a left foot playmaker type of player and sub the RWG. Change it to AP (still on Attack). Then erase "Exploit the Flanks" to "Exploit the Left Flank" or nothing at all. This should help you in case the right winger is being nullified or both of them. In order for this to work, you have to make the AP a AM(Attack or Support is up to you).

--------------------------------------------------------//

Players for each position analysis

LCB - Your fastest, most agile CB.
RCB - Your slowest CB of the duo
RB - Your typical fullback
LWB - A wing back that is able to cover the whole flank. No special attention to positioning is required.
DM - Great passing not a requirement. But not a bulky DM type of player either.
MC - Reasonable good passing and tackling above 10.
AP - Any playmaker will do.
RWG - A winger that the very least is able to go to the end of the line and cross.
WTM - Your best winger (preferably one that is versatile enough to cut inside) or inside forward.
DLF - A forward that is able to hold up the ball and has a reasonably good passing skills.
